The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine – 5th October 2020
- The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute, Wallenbergsalen, Nobel Forum has decided to award the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to Harvey J. Alter (USA), Michael Houghton(UK), and Charles M. Rice(USA) “For the discovery of Hepatitis C virus.”
The Nobel Prize in Physics –6th October 2020
- The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Stockholm has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics 2020 with one half of the prize to Roger Penrose (UK) “For the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity”.
- The other half jointly to Reinhard Genzel (Germany) Prize share ¼, and to Andrea Ghez (USA), Prize share: ¼, “For the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the center of our galaxy”.
The Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry -7th October 2020
- The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Stockholm has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2020 jointly to Emmanuelle Charpentier (France) and Jennifer A. Doudna (USA) “For the development of a method for genome editing”.
- They have discovered one of gene technology’s sharpest tools: the CRISPR/Cas9 genetic scissors. Using these technics, can change the DNA of animals, plants, and microorganisms with extremely high precision. This technology is contributing to new cancer therapies and may make the dream of curing inherited diseases come true.
