The Jnanpith Award is a literary award in India awarded annually by the Bharatiya Jnanpith to an author/writer for outstanding contribution towards literature.

The Jnanpith Award also known as the Bharatiya Jnanpith Award.
- It was given to only Indian writers writing in Indian languages. No posthumously awarded in this award.
- Out of twenty-three eligible languages, the award has been presented for works in sixteen languages: Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Odia, , Urdu, Telugu, Assamese, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Kashmiri, Konkani, and Sanskrit.
- The Jnanpith Award presented by the Bharatiya Jnanpith a trust found by the Sahu Jain family, the Publishers of the Times of India newspaper.
- It carries a check of Rs 7 lakh, a Citation Plaque, and a bronze replica of Saraswati, the Indian Goddess of knowledge, music, and arts.
- From 1965 till 1981, the award was given to the authors/writers with a citation plaque, a cash prize and a bronze replica of Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge and wisdom.
- The rules were revised from 1981 the cash prize was increased to ₹1.5 lakh.
- Now, the cash prize has been revised to ₹13 lakh.
- The Jnanpith award was instituted in 1961. But First awarded in 1965 to Sankar Kurup (Malayalam) for his collection of poems, Odakkuzha (The Bamboo Flute), published in 1950.
- In 1976, Bengali novelist Ashapoorna Devi became the first woman to win the Jnanpith award and was honored for the novel Prothom Protishruti(The First Promise), published in 1965.

58th Jnanpith Award for year 2023
The Jnanpith Award Selection Committee announced the 58th Jnanpith Award for the year 2023. This year it has been decided to award two eminent writers: Jagatguru Shri Rambhadracharya for Sanskrit and famous lyricist Gulzar for Urdu respectively.
58th Jnanpith Award goes to Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharyaji And Shri Gulzar.
