The 13th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2022 began on August 12 and will conclude on August 30. The event, held annually in Australia, celebrates the Indian film industry by screening some of the most prominent and acclaimed films, TV shows, and web series from the country.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Winners Pdf

  • Hungarian Grand Prix 2022:-Max Verstappen (Red Bull , Netherlands) has won the Formula One (F1) 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix 2022. This is his overall 28th race win and the 10th win of the 2022 season.
  • The European Championship final saw England defeat Germany 2-1 to claim its first significant women’s soccer championship.
  • The four new members were appointed by International Olympic Committee President, Thomas Bach. Olympians Allyson Felix, Alistair Brownlee, Oluseyi Smith and Masomah Ali Zada have joined the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • The organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics unveiled “Games Wide Open” as their official slogan. The 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
  • ONGC Para Games :-The fourth edition of the ONGC Para Games was officially launched in New Delhi’s Thyagaraj Sports Complex by Union Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas, Housing, and Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri. It being held by ONGC from August 2-4, 2022, and feature 275 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) who work for eight central oil and gas public Organisations.

SAFF U20 Championship 2022:-

India beat Bangladesh 5-2 after extra time to clinch the 2022 SAFF U20 Championship title, at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Sibajit Singh Leimapokpam was the captain of the Indian team and Som Kumar was the goalkeeper.

75th Grandmaster:-The Chennai-based chess prodigy V Pranav became India’s 75th Grandmaster by winning a tournament in Romania

  • Indian chess legend, Viswanathan Anand was elected deputy president of the International Chess Federation or World Chess Federation (FIDE). While incumbent president Arkady Dvorkovich was re-elected for a second term.
  • UEFA Super Cup 2022: Real Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt, 2-0 in the finals to win the 2022 UEFA Super Cup .
  • Khelo India Women’s Hockey League Under16: The first Khelo India Women’s Hockey League under16 is scheduled to be held at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in New Delhi from August 16 to 23, 2022. Total 16 team across the Country are Participating.
  • The 1st Edition of Women Indian Premier League will be starting from March 2023 to be held in a onemonth window and in all likelihood with five teams, a senior BCCI official confirmed.
  • Malaysia’s premier men’s hockey tournament, the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2022 will be held from November 16 to 25 in Ipoh, Malaysia.
  • 14th Asian U-18 Championship (volleyball):-Indian men’s volleyball team has won the bronze medal by defeating Korea 3-2 in the 14th Asian U-18 Championship in Tehran, Iran.
  • Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien has announced his retirement from international cricket.
  • Bengaluru will host the FIBA U-18 women’s Asian Basketball Championship beginning on September 5 to 11.
  • 28th Abu Dhabi, Masters Chess Tournament Grandmaster:- Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi won the 28th Dhabi Masters Chess Tournament with 7.5 points.
  • Olympic champion and javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra scripted history as he became the first Indian to clinch a Lausanne Diamond League. In his first attempt, he hurled the spear 89.08m to seal his victory in his own style.
  • Cricket Legend Virat Kohli has become the first Indian and just the second player overall in international cricket history to have played 100 matches each in all three formats of the game.
  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty became the first Indian pair to win a medal in the men’s doubles competition at the World Championships.
  • Belgian Grand Prix 2022 :-Red Bull’s driver Max Verstappen has won the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix 2022.
  • Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen won the BWF World Championships men’s singles title in Tokyo, Japan.

August 2022 Scheme, App & Campaign

  • “SMILE-75 Initiative”:– The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, has identified 75 Municipal Corporations to implement comprehensive rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of begging under “SMILE: Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise”
  • The Indian Olympic Association has been directed by the Delhi High Court to set up a three-member Committee of Administrators(CoA) to take over its affairs. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Anil R Dave, former Chief Election Commissioner Dr S.Y Quraishi, and former Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup.
  • Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh has launched India’s first saline water lantern, ‘Roshini’, which uses seawater to power Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps.
  • Paalan 1000 National campaign and Parenting App were launched by the Union Minister of State for Health, Bharti Pravin Pawar in Mumbai. Aims to reduce the child mortality rate and take care of the first 1000 days a child after birth.
  • National Action for Mechanism Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme is a joint initiative of The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs aims to work in Urban India for the safety and dignity of sanitation workers.
  • Village Defence Guards Scheme 2022 (VDGS-2022) introduced for the state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) primary objective of enhancing security in Jammu’s border regions.
  • The 75-day “Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar” campaign is an effort led by citizens with the goal of enhancing coastal and ocean health through collective activity in Puducherry.
  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog will be establishing more than 500 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in Jammu and Kashmir to nurture an innovative mindset among high school students.
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has constituted a 15-member committee to increase foreign investment.
  • Uttar Pradesh government announced that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Panchamrut Yojana’ will help to achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income through the introduction of cost-effective technical measures and the promotion of the co-cropping method.
  • ‘Vidya Rath -School on Wheels’ project launched by Assam CM aims at providing economically challenged underprivileged children to access elementary education for a period of 10 months.
  • Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched the “Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana” on the National Sports Day and  Sports Development Fund will be established to be given financial benefits to the students according to accelerated rules.
  • On National Sports Day, the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry will host the “Meet the Champion project” in 26 schools across the nation.
  • Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Shri Parshottam Rupala introduced the “Aqua Bazar” online market place feature in the “MatsyaSetu” mobile app for Fisheries Development.
  • Union Minister Anurag Thakur has launched “Azadi Quest”, a series of online educational games based on India’s freedom struggle, developed in collaboration with Zynga India. These games are an effort to tap into the huge market of online gamers and to educate them through games.
  • The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) liberalised remittance scheme (LRS) made a strong comeback in the first quarter of FY23 as Indians increased spending on international travel, maintenance of close relatives, and gifts.
  • HDFC has launched India’s first one-stop solution portal “All things EV” for Electric Vehicles Ecosystem.
  • HDFC Bank launched a new campaign called “Vigil Aunty”. Vigil Aunty Campaign attempts to motivate citizens all around the nation to adopt secure banking practices.
  • Karnataka Bank has introduced a new Term Deposit Scheme, KBL Amrit Samriddhi under Abhyudaya Cash Certificate (ACC) and Fixed Deposit for a tenure of 75 weeks (525 days). The interest rate for this Deposit Scheme is 6.10% per annum
