New Traffic Rules 2019 are Safety rules which protect the people of our community. Many safety regulations were implemented because of a condition that led to someone getting seriously injured or killed.
Nowadays traffic injuries and accidents remain an important public health problem. When we all obey all safety rules while driving, it can help us to save our lives, prevent accidents and injuries, and keep a society functioning in the most optimal way.
It is a duty of all the citizens to follow these rules to save their own lives and also save other’s people to live as well.
These rules ensure that drivers will drive safely to keep all the rules in mind. The rules help to reduce the accident rate.

Motor Vehicles Act, 2019
First the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 is an Act of the Indian Parliament that regulates all aspects of road transport vehicles. This Act came into force from 1 July 1989. Earlier it replaced as Motor Vehicles Act, 1914 and Motor Vehicles Act, 1939.
Now, this act is amended by the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019.
The Act provides regarding licensing of drivers/conductors, registration of motor vehicles, traffic regulation, insurance, liability, offenses, and penalties, etc.
According to this Motor Vehicles Act, 2019 Government of India change in the fine amount is clearly stated in the updated act.
Traffic Rule for Two Wheeler Riders in 2019:
- Wear Helmets at all Time:
where you are riding, on a highway, city, or an inroad near where you live, always make sure to wear a helmet.
- Use Your Indicators:
Always use the indicators and make sure to move into the lane towards where your turn. Always use indicators to move over to the extreme left lane while stopping.
- Do not take more than a Pillion:
People taking do not more than one pillion on their two-wheelers. So they save their and their pillions’ life.
- Do not use Mobile:
Do not use Mobile or phone calls while driving.
- Use your Rearview Mirrors:
Use your Rearview Mirrors while driving properly to staying safe on the road.etc.
Proposed of the Motor Vehicles Amendment bill:
- Three-Year imprisonment for parents of children aged below 18 years if underaged children are found driving and causing fatal accidents.
- There is no limit for a third-party car or two-wheeler insurance Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The Bill, amends to cap a maximum third-party legal liability to Rs. 10 lakh for death and Rs. 5 lakh for serious injuries.
- A Motor Accident Fund is to be raised for offering mandatory insurance cover for pedestrians in India only for specific accident types.
- Contractors to be held responsible and blacklisted for bad condition of the roads.
- In traffic violations by juveniles, the guardians or owner of the vehicle would be held responsible.
- Requirement or mandatory of Aadhaar number while applying for a driver’s license and vehicle registration to ensure incorporation of online services and to restrict duplicate or fake licenses.
- The time limit for renewal of the driving license is increased from one month to one year before and after the expiry date.
- Increase in penalties for traffic violators.
The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2017, passed in the Loka Sabha, has proposed for a hike in traffic penalties by as much as 5 times.
