World Cancer Day

  • 4th February observed as world cancer Day every year to increase awareness of cancer, and to encourage its prevention, early detection, and treatment.

The theme for World Cancer Day 2019 is I am and I will’.

  • From 1st February to 3rd February 2019, 2nd Jharkhand International Film Festival (JIFF) was organized by NGO, Navbharat Nirman Sangh at Ranchi in Jharkhand.

National Road Safety Week

  • 30th Road Safety Week 2019 will be celebrated in India from 04th February to the 10th February. There have been various awareness campaigns and events which are being conducted across the country in all the states.
  • Road safety week is a national event aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately to reduce casualties due to road accidents.

Head of state of Monaco Prince Albert II arrives in New Delhi

  • The head of state of Monaco, Prince Albert II arrived in New Delhi visit to India. He attended the India-Monaco Business Forum followed by a round-table on energy and climate.
  • He will meet President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 February. The Head of state of Monaco is scheduled to visit Gandhi Smriti. He will also visit Udaipur in Rajasthan before heading home.
  • Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the 2nd ASEAN-Inda Youth Summit in Guwahati and underlined the need for mutual cooperation among the ASEAN countries for strengthening the multilateral relations of the region.

Odisha Govt announces KALIA scholarship scheme for farmers’ children

  • Under this scheme, the children of farmers, who are the beneficiaries of the KALIA scheme will be provided scholarships for pursuing higher education in professional courses free of cost.
  • Padma Shri R.B. Patil, 93-year-old, passed away in Hubballi. He established North Karnataka’s first comprehensive center for cancer in 1977 from voluntary donations.
  • The government has appointed P.V.Bharathi as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Corporation Bank.

  • Tulsi Gabbard, the 1st-ever Hindu elected to the US Congress, officially launched her 2020 presidential campaign today.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind today inaugurated the annual Udyanotsav of the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • The Mughal Gardens will remain open for the general public from Wednesday to 10th of next month. o The visitors can visit the garden between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
